The PTC Windchill-Sage X3 interface links PTC Windchill® with the ERP system Sage X3. It is easy to use and integrates seamlessly into the engineering process of the design engineer. With its help, Sage X3 objects like article master, bill of materials and other business data can be generated in Sage X3 and synchronized automatically with a single click. The release and change processes can be designed across systems.
The design engineer defines the parts that are necessary for the product. As soon as a part needs to be purchased or produced, an article master is created in Sage X3. The interface makes it possible to create an article master with one single click. The CAD part is marked with the article number. Thus, a clear reference between the CAD part and the article master in Sage X3 is established. If a CAD part needs to be changed, the change of the article master in Sage X3 can be updated automatically or with a few clicks.
Bill of Materials
The engineering bill of materials is defined by the CAD structure. PTC Windchill® automatically creates the corresponding parts structure by deriving it from the CAD structure. Using IFConneX for Sage X3 you can either use the CAD structure or the parts structure derived from PTC Windchill® to directly extract the bill of materials for Sage X3 and put it into the system. If the structure changes, the change can be transmitted to the bill of materials in Sage X3 automatically. If required, the user can have a preview of the bill of materials in Sage X3 and its changes in the parts list browser of the interface before he or she transmits them to the Sage X3 system.
In order to make the selection easy, the interface IFConneX has a browser that is embedded in PTC Windchill®. The browser enables the user to select and navigate in the product structure. The parts that need to be linked are displayed. They are validated before they are shown in the interface browser. The browser shows the result of the validation including all error messages. This ensures that the data transmitted to Sage X3 fulfills the data quality requirements.
After completion of engineering and after generating and updating the master data in Sage X3 using the interface, the design engineer can release the product structure with all the described documents. The Sage X3 interface makes sure that the Sage X3 master data generated in Sage X3 is synchronized with the data that needs to be released in PTC Windchill®. The article status shows the Sage X3 user that the engineering data for the article master is released.
